Local drama groups: your chance to compete in
a nationwide festival and perform in Britain’s oldest working
theatre!
A preliminary round of the prestigious All England Theatre Festival is
being held in the historic Georgian Theatre Royal. The one act
play competition, open to all amateur drama groups takes place during
the week of 10th March with the Richmond award ceremony on Thursday 13th
March 2008 at 7.30pm. Further performance details and tickets will be
available after the closing date of entries on Friday February 8th.
The festival provides an opportunity for amateurs to compete at national
level because the All England Theatre Festival organises the only country-wide
eliminating contest for one-act plays. Winners progress through a series
of rounds to culminate in the English Finals on 14th June in Kent and
the British Finals held on 4th & 5th July in Swansea.
All entrants benefit from professional adjudication to improve the quality
of their performance. It also allows social contact with other like-minded
groups so the experience can be shared to mutual benefit.
Interested groups should contact the Georgian Theatre on 01748
823710 as soon as possible or email admin@georgiantheatreroyal.co.uk for an
information pack.
