A Rehearsed Reading of
THE MUTINY AT THE NORE
A nautical drama in three acts by Douglas Jerrold
Having experienced the harsh regime of the Royal Navy himself, Jerrold
drew on the true events of mutinous outbreaks in 1797 to highlight
the savage reality of war. First performed in 1830, this play is
much darker
than its forerunner, Black Eyed Susan.
The Mutiny at the Nore continues our series of rehearsed readings
of Georgian plays in partnership with The Theatre Royal, Bury St
Edmunds.
